Vaughan Gething: We continue to work with health boards and Health Education and Improvement Wales on recruitment and retention challenges, with short, medium and long-term action. This includes our successful Train Work Live campaign, increasing medical school places and working to ensure more Welsh students study to become healthcare professionals.

Vaughan Gething: Welsh Government recognises the important role provision of registered after-school clubs play in supporting families. The clubs not only provide valuable opportunities for school age children to play, develop skills, and make new friends, but also support working parents ensuring their children are cared for in a safe appropriate environment.

Vaughan Gething: We have asked Health Education and Improvement Wales and Social Care Wales to develop a workforce strategy for health and social care in Wales. This work will consider the best way to support career-long training, development and education for all the workforce.

Vaughan Gething: ...uptake rates in Wales remain at the top of international benchmarks and are comparable to other UK countries. The vast majority of children in Wales are fully immunised before they start school. Immunisation programmes are vital to protect individual children against preventable diseases and to provide herd immunity.

Vaughan Gething: Last week, I announced a £95 million funding package to support a wide range of education and training programmes for healthcare professionals. This included a 13 per cent increase in nurse training places, a 40 per cent increase in midwifery training places and enables more than 3,000 new students to undertake study in Wales.

Vaughan Gething: I recognise the vital role midwives play in supporting women through their childbirth experience. On 20 February, I announced a £95 million funding package to support education and training programmes for healthcare professionals, which included a 40 per cent increase in midwifery training places. This is the highest level of midwifery training places commissioned since devolution.

Vaughan Gething: ...established last year will produce a report later this month detailing the current provision of endometriosis in Wales and recommendations for improved care pathways, workforce planning and the education and training of staff involved in providing endometriosis services for NHS Wales.

Vaughan Gething: We are working closely with health boards and Health Education and Improvement Wales through our successful national and international marketing campaign 'Train. Work. Live.' to recruit and retain healthcare professionals with positive results.

Vaughan Gething: As a result of Welsh Government action, working with our partners, including Health Education and Improvement Wales, this year we have been able to increase the number of GP training places in Wales from 136 to 160. This will benefit all communities in Wales.
