Vibrant and Viable Places is investing over £100 million in the redevelopment of towns and coastal communities across Wales. Through this programme the South Wales West authorities of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend are receiving funding of over £26.5 million to secure housing, economic, community and infrastructure improvements for the region.

Commercial tenancies are let by local authorities and other public bodies. They play an important part in supporting local economies, in growing businesses and in some cases, in the regeneration of our communities and town centres.

We are looking to build on a successful regeneration programme, Vibrant and Viable Places, which continues to make a significant impact in many communities by creating jobs, supporting people into work and through building new homes. In our evidence to the Silk commission, we consistently argued for the devolution of policing. We have also made similar requests in relation to youth justice. These requests continue to be rejected by the UK Government.

The draft 10-year plan sets out our ambitious plans to develop the early years, childcare and play workforce in Wales, with a focus on the quality of provision. Work is currently under way to assess the impact of a number of policy developments before finalising the workforce plan.
