The provision of information, help and support for young carers is an important focus in our new strategy for unpaid carers. The national young carers ID card, co-produced with young people to improve recognition of young carers, is being implemented by local authorities, and is already in operation in the Member’s own constituency.
We are on track to meet our end-of-July milestone a month early, supply permitting. Latest published statistics show Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, covering South Wales East, has vaccinated 82.3 per cent of its population with first doses and 43 per cent with second doses.
We continue to support social care in Wales through hardship funding, distributing free PPE and an extensive vaccination programme. Recovery is the business of all stakeholders, supported and led by Welsh Government. We are working with key sector representatives on a social care recovery framework for publication before July recess.
The strategy for the region is set out in the new Wales transport strategy - Llwybr Newydd. This aligns with the recommendations of the Lord Burns commission. Work has already commenced on the commission’s 58 recommendations ranging from improvement of the south Wales main line to local measures.
