AONBs play an important role in protecting and enhancing our environment in Wales. Welsh Government has provided significant extra funding and resources to AONBs in recent years to enable them to play a greater role in the delivery of priorities such as nature recovery and addressing the climate emergency.

Our Programme for government confirmed investment in a new generation of integrated health and social care centres across Wales, bringing services closer to local communities. In mid Wales, work is continuing with the health board and local authority around the proposed north Powys Well-being development at Newtown.

Together with our public and private sector partners, we will decarbonise social housing, street by street, home by home.  Each home will require its own ‘passport’, which sets out the package of works needed to reduce its carbon emissions, allowing Welsh tenants to play their part in protecting the planet.

The Welsh Government has established a task and finish group on gambling-related harm. Harm prevention and how support services can be strengthened are areas of focus for this group. The Welsh Government continues to work with the UK Government during their review of the Gambling Act 2005.
