I discussed a range of issues with the devolved administrations and the UK Government at the Joint Ministerial Committee last week, including the need for much stronger mechanisms to manage the inter-governmental negotiations that will be needed post EU exit.
Supporting a strong economy that generates sustainable employment opportunities that are accessible to all is a fundamental part of our approach to tackling poverty. The evidence is clear that well-paid work provides the most sustainable route out of poverty and the greatest protection against poverty for those most at risk.

Mae Estyn yn adolygu’r ddarpariaeth o addysg ariannol mewn ysgolion cynradd ac uwchradd, ac fe fydd yn cyhoeddi’r canfyddiadau yn y gwanwyn. Byddwn yn defnyddio’r adroddiad wrth ddatblygu’n cwricwlwm newydd. Cyhoeddwyd ein cynllun cynhwysiant ariannol ym mis Rhagfyr, sy’n cynnwys camau gweithredu a ffyrdd o fesur llwyddiant er mwyn cryfhau addysg ariannol a chynhwysiant ariannol ar draws Cymru.
We are committed to improving child health in Wales. Our programme for government, ‘Taking Wales Forward’ includes our Healthy Child Wales programme. The programme includes a range of preventative and early intervention measures to help parents and children make healthy lifestyle choices.
It would be unhelpful for the Welsh Government to give a running commentary during an ongoing committee inquiry. We look forward to the publication of the final report by the Standards Committee and we are committed to working transparently and constructively to deliver for the people of Wales.
In his oral statement in October, the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children outlined the Welsh Government’s priorities for resilient communities. These focus on employment, early years and empowerment. Following broad engagement on these priorities, the Cabinet Secretary will make another statement in due course.
