We are working with the Ministry of Defence and colleagues in knowledge and analytical services to develop metrics to measure our performance of services and support in health, prosthetics and housing. This will give us a better understanding of their needs and where to target our services to meet those needs.

I expect all local authorities to work closely with other public sector bodies to deliver for the communities they serve. The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 makes public bodies, including local authorities, in Wales think more about the long term, working better with people and communities and each other, looking to prevent problems and take a more joined-up approach.

We have worked closely with local authorities to ensure support has been available during the transition period, working collaboratively to learn and monitor lessons from Communities First. Legacy funding ensures the most successful aspects of Communities First continue.

We introduced legislation in 2011 to help address the gender pay gap in the Welsh public sector. The Equality and Human Rights Commission guides, monitors and regulates local authorities in relation to their duty. Local authorities have a statutory duty as employers to take steps to address any identified gaps.

We are continuing to provide funding to promote positive engagement for young people, in addition to funding an additional 500 community support officers who work with young people on diversionary initiatives and providing guidance.
